Amalfi Drive: The most spectacular section is between Amalfi and Positano - approximately 40 km. The road is just two cars wide in many sections, so take care. Passengers may relax and be spellbound. It's so glorious that you will want to make the journey in the opposite direction.
As a first step to a tranquil vacation, we advise leaving your own car at home and making use of public transport as explained below.
On this page we have included all the timetables and available services relevant to the Amalfitana coast, that is to say the timetables of SITA buses, the Circumvesuviana trains and the ferries, so that you will be able to arrange excursions to Amalfi (7 Km), Positano (7 Km), Ravello (13 Km) and other points of interest on the Sorrentina-Amalfitana coast directly from home.
These depart and arrive from our parking lot. Just a visit to the page detailing all the excursions to the Amalfitana coast should be enough to assure you that you don’t need a car in order to go on them. Avoid the torturous coastal driving conditions and save the costs of parking (should there be any available at all).
The SITA service offers air-conditioned buses driven by tried and tested drivers as a great alternative to cars and connects the various centres all day long.
Using the SITA buses is a really novel and enjoyable experience which is certainly different to that offered by a normal city bus service.
While staying comfortably seated and relaxed you will be able to admire the rugged coastline with its sheer precipices plunging into the sea and floods of curves, each with a breathtaking panorama of its own that varies with the bends in the road.
So… enjoy these beautiful moments even before your vacation has begun, because our curvaceous main road (A163) as beautiful as it is, isn’t easy to drive on.

Bus schedules....
Coming from the north by car:
From Rome reach the main road "A1"direction south (Napoli) and, after leaving Napoli, take the main road "A3" to Napoli - Salerno (Not Tangenziale Napoli). At Castellammare di Stabia, take the road to Sorrento and at Meta di Sorrento take the road to Positano - Praiano. Look for the Hotel Onda Verde on your right. You will only see the parking area from the road. Pull your car in and, as your look at the car park, on the left, you will see the entrance of the elevator that brings you to the reception.
IMPORTANT: Before Naples, in Caserta, there are directional signboards for the Amalfi Coastline; we don't recommend this route, as it is more kilometers.
During the holidays, to avoid heavy traffic, after some kilometers from the exit of the highway of Castellammare of Stabbia, immediately after a tunnel, turn to the right for Gragnano and follow the directional signboards for Agerola-Amalfi-Praiano.
From Castellammare di Stabbia to Praiano, either route takes around an hour.
Coming from the south: You must exit "A3" at "Vietri sul Mare" and follow the sign for route S.S. 163 Amalfitana, Cetara-Maiori-Minori-Amalfi-Praiano.
From "Vietri sul Mare" to Praiano takes around an hour if you don’t meet heavy traffic.
Coming from Bari: Take the motorway to Avellino and then the superstrada (toll-free motorway) to Salerno, which is located at one end of route S.S. 163 Amalfitana.
Taxi transfer from Naples airport/train station:
The Amalfi Drive ( The name of the road is Statale 163), is a drive to paradise. It is a concrete ribbon that rewards visitors with some of the most beautiful mountain-meets-sea views at every turn in the world.
However, driving it, as well as winding your way around the narrow hairpin roads of the Amalfi Coast, can be both a joy and a challenge. For these reasons, we suggest the best way to get to Hotel Onda Verde is by pre-arranged taxi/car service. We can arrange a comfortable Mercedes taxi/car service to meet you at the Naples airport or train station and bring you directly to us for a one way fare of Euro 120,00 for up to 3 persons - 90' min. route driving. With groups of four or more people with a lot of luggage we recommend a MINIVAN at Euro 185,00. The van will hold up to six (6) people. Then you will ride comfortably to Hotel Onda Verde, enjoying the beautiful scenery without any worries. We suggest to please consider the difficulty of driving along the Amalfi Coast before renting a car. Many of our guests leave the car in the parking lot without using it for any of their stay. Please note if you choose to take a different taxi from the airport, they may charge you for an empty return or double the fare. Click here for the train schedules.
To order a transfer, please, fill out our reservation form together your Hotel Reservation Confirmation.
Coming from Naples airport:
If you arrive at Naples Capodichino airport, take a taxi or bus to the Circumvesuviana station, as above. Taxi from railway station to Hotel Onda Verde 1 2 0 ,00 Euro for up to 4 persons.
